Project Coordinator in Groundwater Quality and Crowdsensing

The Environmental Change Initiative (ND-ECI) at the University of Notre Dame seeks a Project Coordinator (PC) to support a new NSF-funded research project investigating the development of Smart Water Crowdsensing (SWC) framework for reliable and timely detection of groundwater water quality in private well-dependent communities based on citizen science. The primary responsibilities of the Project Coordinator will be to facilitate effective communication among the project team with diverse expertise (e.g., hydrology, computer science, ecology, social science) as well as the engagement of external stakeholders and community partners. In addition to helping facilitate data collection for the research, the PC will develop and manage the translational project outputs and products (e.g., one-pagers).

Entry Level Hydrologist

As a Hydrologist within the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

  • Measure hydrologic data, collect pumpage records, install and close wells, and log data in boreholes and wells.
  • Collect water and sediment samples for the analysis of sediment or particulate concentration or chemical quality.
  • Compute, analyze, interprets and develops presentations of hydrologic, water quality and other data.
  • Write parts of interpretive reports of hydrologic studies and prepares hydrologic information in the form of computerized maps, charts, graphs, or
  • geographic information system datasets for inclusion in reports.
  • Operate a government owned vehicle on a regular basis.

Environmental Mgr - OWQ Probablistic Monitoring

This Environmental Manager position resides in the Probabilistic Monitoring Section of the Watershed Assessment and Planning Branch in the Office of Water Quality. Incumbent will assist the Macroinvertebrate Community Program Manager and serve as a specialist in aquatic ecology. This position performs field, laboratory, and office duties described in IDEM's Water Quality Monitoring Strategy which includes collection and analysis of physical, chemical, and biological data at random and targeted sites within a watershed of interest to assess designated use support, identify potential causes and sources of impairment, provide information for watershed characterization planning and restoration projects, and look for improvements following implementation of a watershed plan.
