Category: Events

You‘re invited to join the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for the 10th biennial Operation Stay Afloat conference.

Operation Stay Afloat will be held Wednesday, March 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the State Government Center in Indianapolis. This conference highlights flood preparedness and all-hazard mitigation. Target audience members for the conference are local floodplain administrators, local building officials, local emergency management officials, representatives from regional planning groups or river basin commissions, engineers and other consultants who work with local jurisdictions, volunteer groups involved with floodplain issues and disaster recovery, local CEOs, and state legislators.

This year’s theme is “Tools and Resources to Improve Community Preparedness”. Following that theme, we have presentations scheduled on Indiana’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance Program, Structure Level Floodplain Analysis, Introduction to Flood Insurance Through the NFIP, A Flood Inundation and Impact Tool for Flood Response, and Mitigation, New and Improved Apps, and more. There will be displays from several state and federal agencies where you can pick up information and resources to assist in community preparedness. Above all, this is a great opportunity for networking with the many agencies that will be in attendance.

The conference has also been pre-approved or submitted for approval for six PDHs/CECs for anyone with PE, PS, PEM, or CFM certifications.
