Other Attractions in South Bend/Mishawaka

The Museums at Washington + Chapin

You’ll get three experiences in one when you visit this museum campus! Stroll through the vehicles on display at the Studebaker National Museum – including the largest Presidential Carriage collection in the United States – and then make your way to The History Museum to learn all about our region. Cap off the experience by taking a guided tour of the 38-room Oliver Mansion, still filled with all the family’s original furnishings.

The University of Notre Dame
There is nothing as picturesque as the University of Notre Dame campus. Throughout the year, a guided walking tour of the campus will take you to all the well-known landmarks, including the Main Building’s Golden Dome, Basilica of the Sacred Heart and Joyce Center. Each guide has special anecdotes and details to share along the way, making each tour given one-of-a-kind. A tour of the athletic facilities is not included with this tour, but can be scheduled separately.

Tour the South Bend Chocolate Company Factory
Experience the magic behind the South Bend Chocolate Company. During the factory tour, get an inside look at how chocolate is made. Walk along the production line and see the hand-made touches on each morsel, then try it for yourself when you have the opportunity to make your own chocolate-dipped spoon.

South Bend River Lights
Once the sun sets in South Bend, there is one place to go where light continues to shine—the South Bend River Lights. This interactive light display was dedicated in 2015 to celebrate the 150th birthday of South Bend as a city. Three light structures line the St. Joseph River in downtown South Bend and illuminate the river with bright, fluorescent colors. However, it is up to you to change the colors and patterns of the colors by waving your arms next to the light sculptures.

Shiojiri Niwa Garden
A Japanese strolling garden that symbolizes the Sister-City relationship between Mishawaka, Indiana and Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. It contains more than twenty different varieties of large plant material, over two hundred large boulders, donated statue and a teahouse pavilion. This is also a very popular summer wedding area as well as family pictures. Open sunrise to sunset daily.
