DNR Workshop: Post Flood Guidance and Substantial Damage
Wednesday, December 09, 2020, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM EDT
Category: Events

The Floodplain Management Section invites you to attend Post Flood Guidance and Substantial Damage, a workshop designed to familiarize the participant with the processes that must be followed in the event of a flood and substantial damage determinations.

This workshop will be presented virtually two times on Dec. 9 as a Microsoft Teams meeting.

When participating in the National Flood Insurance Program, proper evaluation and documentation of flood damage are critical steps to mitigate future flood risk and possibly reduce the cost of flood insurance within your community. Proper permitting of repairs also alleviates the need for your community to retrieve complete documentation if needed in the future. It also generally means more peace of mind.

Meeting the requirements of your community’s floodplain regulations is key to making your community a safer place. It’s even better when an individual or community exceeds the minimums, further reducing risk.

These sessions will focus on a more in-depth look at inspecting flood damages, notifying the property owners, meeting with them, and repairing flood-damaged structures.

Local floodplain administrators and other local officials involved in permitting, building, zoning, and local decision making are strongly encouraged to attend. We hope you can join us for one of the following workshops:

Dec. 9, 2020

The two-hour workshop will be held at 9 a.m. (ET) and 2 p.m. (ET).

Certified Floodplain Managers (CFMs), please note that the workshop information has been approved by ASFPM for two Continuing Education Credits (CECs).

There are no fees for the workshops; however, advance registration is required so that you can be provided the meeting link and call-in number if necessary.
