Pre-Certification and Application Process

Please note – you MUST be pre-approved by EnviroCert International to be eligible to sit for an exam. If you are seeking pre-approval, please send your application materials to EnviroCert International ASAP so they have plenty of time to review them and send you an approval letter!

For those who are not familiar with EnviroCert International’s professional certification process; here are the steps to become certified:

  1. Review the webpage for the certification that you’re interested in
  2. Self-determine if you meet the educational and work experience criteria for that certification
  3. Gather all application materials along with your application fee and submit to EnviroCert International to obtain pre-approval to sit for the exam (Please note that EnviroCert MUST have at least 30 days to review your application materials)
  4. If you’re pre-approved, EnviroCert International will mail you a letter stating this. You must present this letter to the proctor at your exam.
  5. Optional: take an Exam Review Course (for the Review Courses and Exams in Indianapolis, you register and pay for those courses and exams through EnviroCert International. Your Review Course registration fee includes 1 copy of the Review Course Manual)
  6. Take the exam and obtain a passing grade

About the Committee

The INAFSM Stormwater Committee (SWC) allows those members who desire more specialized training and networking opportunities to obtain them. The goal will be to use our combined resources to offer a variety of activities that will appeal to a variety of stormwater professionals. Example activities include breakfast and/or twilight seminars on topics of interest such as BMP design. This will give each of these professionals an opportunity to meet, discuss problems, discuss solutions, discuss programs and to network with others who share like responsibilities. These special groups may end up meeting a couple of times a year or even quarterly.

The Erosion & Sediment Control Inspector's Group is one of these special groups and more information is available by following the link above.

The INAFSM SWC is currently working to form an IDDE (Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination) Group and is focusing on offering trainings related to this topic. Please contact the IDDE Group Chair, Susan Beck (260-427-6213) for more information.
