The course provides sophisticated analysis of flood modeling with respect to the needs of local and State Certified Floodplain Managers and Emergency Management personnel.  See the flyer for more information and registration.

Levee Certification and Awareness

An informational luncheon regarding Levee Certification and Awareness was held on April 20, 2010 in Columbus, Indiana.  The goal of this meeting was to bring awareness to levee certification and the Financial impacts on communities. What is required to get certification? What happens if you don’t get certified?

Roger Denick, PE, CFM (FEMA Region V) and David Knipe, PE, CFM (IDNR) presented "Navigating the Provisionally Accredited Levee (PAL) Process, and several requests have been made to make that presentation available for viewing.  You can download the presentation here.  If you have questions about the presentation or would like additional information, please contact one of the presenters by selecting their email link above.

Committee Update

The INAFSM Floodplain Committee is planning a series of organizational meetings throughout the State as a way to reinitiate activity for the committee and have a fun way to bring members together to discuss topics of interest. The first series of meetings will be to “get organized” and set committee priorities for the year. We are also looking for input for activities and presentations that membership would like to see done. The goal will be to then have “breakfast or lunch talks” every other month.

In addition to the talks, the committee is looking for INAFSM members to be active on the committee for a number of proposed projects that we have in the works. So join the committee for some breakfast/lunch camaraderie and professional development opportunity. If you can’t make the talks but would like to still be active on the committee then send an email to Susan Bodkin and we will add you to the committee.
