August 10-13 - FEMA L273 Course

This course is designed to provide an organized training opportunity for local officials responsible for administering their local floodplain management ordinance. The course will focus on the NFIP and concepts of floodplain management, maps and studies, ordinance administration, and the relationship between floodplain management and flood insurance. Hands-on exercises are included to allow participants to better apply the information in their communities. More information can be found on the Training & Workshops Page.

September 15-17 - INAFSM Annual Conference

More information will be coming soon. This year's conference will once again be held at the Abe Martin Lodge in beautiful Brown County in Nashville, Indiana. See the Conference Page for details as they are posted.

September 23 - CFM Exam

The Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) exam will be offered on Thursday, September 23 at the Indiana Government Center. This offering will be hosted by the DNR, Division of Water. Prior to the exam, a CFM Refresher Session will be available. Applications for the exam must be made in advance through the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM). For more specific information on the location and times, contact Anita Nance at anance@dnr.in.gov. To apply for the exam or to learn more information about the CFM program, go to www.floods.org.

The organization is always looking to share our knowledge with others in our profession. CFMs should not forget to acquire the recommended number of CECs to maintain their accreditation.
